Precious Boys

Nico and Mommy made a day trip to Dallas and met up with Aunt Shae and Cousin Mason. The two boys, being only 2.5 months apart have not had the opportunity to see each other lately and decided to do something about that. So we took advantage of the fact that our two families are now living closer to each other. The Dallas Arboretum, where we met up, was holding their Autumn Fest, with pumpkins to be found everywhere. Even through a little mud and wet grass the boys still had a chance to crawl around and even do some baby wrestling! We all had a great time and I am pretty sure that Shae and I started a new annual tradition of visiting the Dallas Arboretum at this time of year.

Someone Loves Mickey!

Nico has been enchanted by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for quite some time. Mickey has been a good friend to both Nico and Mommy; he has helped to get Nico down for many naps and is usually able to turn a Nico frown upside down. This video shows Nico boogieing down to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song. Funny Fact: Apparently, when Mommy was little, she used to stand right up at the TV dancing on her tiptoes when the Muppets were on.

From Baby to Little Boy

Our baby seems to be slowly disappearing, and this adorable little boy has been taking his place. With his first birthday rapidly approaching, Nico has been quickly meeting new milestones and making new discoveries.

It's official...Nico said his first and second words! He has been saying 'ba' for quite some time now, but its been during the last couple of weeks that Nico started saying 'ba' to communicate wanting his bottle or any kind of food. When your little boy sits in the kitchen and loudly repeats "ba, ba, ba" once he sees you making a bottle, it is pretty obvious what he is trying to tell you. To top that, Nico has also said his second word...Ma-ma! Yep, he knows who I am; by name now. It made my heart skip a beat and a smile spread across my face when Nico came crawling over to me, saying, "ma-ma, ma-ma."

In addition to the awesome strides in language development, Nico has also learned a couple other new tricks. He can now give high-fives and "blow kisses!" We are also making progress on waving bye-bye and can now scoot around backwards on his riding toy. Everyday it is something new with our precious boy. Who knows what tomorrow will hold.

Here are some cute recent pictures.

Just like his Daddy...loves tuna noodle casserole.

Nico took it upon himself to help Daddy set up the new DVD player!

Such a handsome boy!

Love Spending Time With Gigi

Nico's grandma, Gigi, came into town this past weekend for a visit. With the sun finally showing itself, we had a great time spending time outside and just enjoying each others' company. Gigi, Mommy and Nico had a great lunch and afternoon at the Modern Cafe and Art Museum, one of Mommy's favorite places to go. Since the day was so beautiful we ate outside on the terrace overlooking the lake and enjoyed the cool fall weather. Nico had a fabulous time, eating big people foods, such as hummus, spear pickles, french fries, refried beans and Spanish rice. After eating all we could, we walked some of our lunch off while venturing around the museum. Nico had a blast crawling around and looking at some of the abstract art. He also mastered a set of three stairs while there.

The next day the three musketeers decided to again, take advantage of the gorgeous day God had given to us, and set off to explore the Botanical Gardens. It was a great time to visit the gardens with so many of the flowers and plants in bloom right now. Nico had a fabulous time taking everything in and sat as upright as he could while in the stroller. The little man loves being outsides and was squealing and laughing most of time we were there. Nico was so tuckered out after visiting the botanical gardens, that he slept all the way home. We hated for the weekend to end, but it is reassuring to know that we will see Gigi again in less than three weeks!

As Cute as a Pumpkin!

Nico and his friend Matthew had their pictures taken by Heather at Chunky Monkey Photography! As usual, she did a great job, especially since the minute we drove up the rain starting coming down. Nico was so distracted by all the pumpkins and the fact that Matthew was there, that he did not want to smile much; however, Heather caught some cute ones on camera still. In the end, with some last minute improvising, and lots of prodding, we have some more great memories to look back on!

Yee Haw! My Little Cowboy

Nico once again had some wonderful pictures taken by Heather at Chunky Monkey Photography. This time Nico is showing off his true native Texan colors with his cowboy hat, boots and all! And, what better of place to take western pictures than in the Stockyards?!

Seriously...Nico is SO adorable; I don't think it is possible to be any cuter than this!
