The First Snow

In the 11 years I have lived in Fort Worth, it seems that we are most likely to get snow once or twice during the winter.  There have been a couple of years where there was no snow fall and a year or two (2009 and 2010) where we got more snow than we knew what to do with.  However, it is not likely that the first snow would actually fall (and stick) on Christmas day, but it did!

When my family walked out of Buca di Bepos after having a scrumptious lunch, it was cold and windy, but it was snowing!  A couple of hours later when we walked out of the movie theater, we were pleasantly surprised to see the snow was sticking to ground and really starting to accumulate, at least for Texas snow!  By the time we got home, it was getting dark and still very windy for the kids to play outside so we waited until the morning to introduce snow to Natalee!

Christmas Day in Pictures

Christmas 2012 was special since it was Natalee's first Christmas and our first Christmas together as a family of 4.  I could probably write a book about this day, but instead I will just say a few words with the pictures which tells the story of our day.  Hope everyone had a blessed day!

Here I am putting the bows on the presents under the tree...getting ready for Christmas morning.

Here are all the presents ready for the kids to rip open in a few hours.

Nico woke up at 5:30 am from a thunder and lightening storm we had happening outside, but he completely forgot about that worry once he walked into the living room and found all the presents Santa had brought.  He immediately came into our room to wake us up.

We told Nico he had to wait until Natalee was awake to open any presents.  So what did he do? He ran into Natalee's room at 5:30 am yelling, "Natalee, Santa brought presents! Wake up!!!!"  Natalee, who was sound asleep, picked herself up a little, looked through the bars of her crib and then flopped back down.  She was not necessarily ready to get up, but she did for the sake of Christmas.

Nico did a pretty good job at opening the presents in which he coul dfind his name, but did help Natalee with a couple.

Natalee was a happy girl with the entire experience of present opening.  She really had no idea what was happening, but loved exploring all the new toys surrounding her.

Nico attacked his stocking and everyone else's right away!

Natalee checking out her Dream Light, that Nico picked out for her.

Chilly was a huge hit from Santa!

Nico showed Natalee how the ball popper worked. What a good big brother.

The little lady's big present!

We waited until Christmas morning to sign happy birthday to Jesus!

Nico is showing Natalee how her new Dream Light works.

Lounging in his new sofa fold out chair!  This was Nico's big present from Santa....sucha big hit, he slept in it on Christmas night.

Instead of cooking dinner at our house and having all the work and clean up, we decided to continue with our Italian Christmas meal tradition, but ate at Buca di Bepos.  It was great food. We then went to see Wreck It Ralph at the movies.
