A Texas Tradition

About this time every year in the heart of Texas the roads are lined with the beautiful state flower, bluebonnets growing wild. We saw some incredible fields of blue on the drive back from Houston, but did not want to stop and interrupt the sleeping children. Directly across the street from our church is also a great display of bluebonnets so I drove the kids out there one morning this week and snapped a few photos! They turned out great...Nico was cooperative for me and the cloudiness for the day made for perfect lighting in pictures.

2 Month Check Up

Natalee had her first round of shots today and she did great! She is in the 50th percentile for both weight and height...she is growing like a weed! Like Nico, I have her on a alternate vaccination schedule and she only got a couple of the vaccinations that were required at 2 months. Natalee will go back every month for most the year to get additional vaccinations. According to the pediatrician, Natalee is very healthy, looks great, and of course has incredibly beautiful eyes!

My BIG Girl!!!

Two major milestones Natalee has met and I am very proud of her...she is growing up fast already.

First, she began sleeping in her own room last night. This is wonderful for everyone involved. Nico started sleeping in his room and began on a bedtime routine at 2 months old, and it has totally paid off. To this day, he goes through his bedtime routine without a hitch and it looks like Natalee might be following in his footsteps! With the soothing ocean sounds from the Sound Spa and the projection of cute fishies Natalee slept for 6 hours straight. If I wouldn't have woken up from Ed's alarm at 4 am, I would have let her continuing sleeping, but since I was already up I decided it was a good time for her to do a little eating. Yay Natalee!

Secondly, Natalee sat in her Bumbo chair for the first time today! Although, her head is heavy, she does so well in holding it up. Poor thing does get tired from up that beautiful head, but you could see on her face how proud she was.

Trip to Houston....part 4

Houston is such a big city and there is so much to do there to keep a three year old entertained. In addition to going to the zoo, the Houston Museum of Science, and the Houston Children's Museum, we also took Nico see the Lorax at the movies and to the Stomping Grounds, a fun indoor play center in Sugar Land. Our last big rendezvous of our trip was heading down to Kemah for the day. The weather was beautiful and we all got quite a bit of sun while down on the boardwalk! Nico had so much fun feeding the seagulls, having lunch on the water, and riding the rides. I was so proud of Nico who was such a brave boy to try new things such as riding the rides! He was very intrigued by the big roller coaster, but said it was "too scary!" He did get the courage up to ride the huge Ferris wheel at the end; however, after being in the sun, and it was HOT, he decided while waiting in line that he was tired and wanted to go home. So home we went. It was a great day and an ending to our week long trip visiting Gigi.

Thank you so much for the wonderful time Gigi! We all love you so much! See you next month. xxoo

Trip to Houston...part 3

The Houston Children's Museum was probably Nico's favorite adventure of our trip! I literally had to carry him out of the building kicking and crying! Kidtropolis, the children's miniature city was a blast for him..there was a pretend grocery store, bank, train station, vet clinic, hospital and diner. Then there was also the Water Works area where children experiment through play in various water activities and toys, and of course there were building and climbing areas for his age. There were rooms designed for kids of all ages and I think every child was having the time of their lives. Although this was Nico's second trip to the HCM, he does not remember the first time and since he so desperately wanted to stay and play, I will definitely be taking him back there the next time we are in town.

Trip to Houston...part 2

Another adventure of ours on a different couple of days consisted of going to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Nico was ready, wearing his dinosaur bones shirt to see the real dinosaur bones! And then of course we had to go back to see the butterflies!

Another long but fun day...

Trip to Houston...part 1

Nico, Natalee and I just got back from our week long trip in Houston. I lived in the Houston area for most of my childhood and I can say that I probably did more in the city of Houston this past week to entertain Nico than I have done in more years that I can remember. After a successful road trip with a 3 year old and a 2 month old by myself we spent the first day laying around the house. Nico went "fishing" for the first time with Grand-dad which was exciting, especially because he went out with a Cars fishing pole in hand.

Gigi couldn't have been happier to see her precious grandbabies' faces. Natalee also met Grand-dad Dan for the first time.

Mommy kissing her baby girl!

The next day we ventured out to the Houston Zoo. Nico had a blast and was one exhausted boy by the time we left. It was Natalee's first trip to the zoo, but she slept through the entire thing!

At Hermann Park outside of the zoo...there is an incredible amount of things to do here! Next time...paddle boats!

Natalee was excited about going to the zoo...can't you tell?

Oh my gosh....a real dragon?!

This was the best picture I could get of the three of us...Nico was not a fan of the camera during most of the trip.

Nico and Gigi are silly monkeys!

This water fountain make look like just any old lion shaped water fountain, but I had my picture taken at this very same spot when I was about the same age at Nico.

Two of my favorite people

2 Months Old

These last 2 months have come and gone by so fast. My precious angel girl is already 2 months old and I can hardly believe it. Not too long ago it felt like I would never be pregnant again and then once I finally was, I felt like those 9 months went by at a snail's pace, but now time just can't seem to slow down! Here are some new fin fact about Natalee Lynn:
1. She really enjoys looking at stuffed animals and often smiles and laughs at them.

2. Nico's voice is pretty amusing to her as well. She also tolerates his obsession with her toes.

3. Swaddling, although despised before, is now the only way to sleep at night.

4. This little girl loves being in the sun and stretches her arms really big when taken outside, which has been often lately.

5. When you sit with Natalee and talk to her, she just soaks the attention in and will coo and "talk" back. It is the most precious sound in the world.

6. She is sleeping between 4-6 hours at a time during the night before waking up to eat. I can't complain about this.

7. Natalee does NOT like poopy diapers. She will cry and complain immediately after she poops and will continue up until the diaper is changes. After all, what little girl likes to be dirty?

8. She smiles the most at her Gigi!

9. I think I have mentioned this before, but Natalee really has the best eye contact. She particularly loves staring at me, which completely warms my heart.
