T-ball Game #1

After 2 canceled games due to rain, we finally had Nico's first t-ball game this past Tuesday.   As one of the few kids who has never played on a t-ball team before, has had very little experience and is one of the youngest, he did not do too bad.  I have to say, my precious boy can be quite amused and became interested in the small things around him when out on the field....such as grass or flowers.  Yep, he likes to pick the grass, but that is ok...I mean he looks adorable in his little uniform! We will get the hang of this with more practice! If my little man makes progress over the next 2 months, ends the season with an more of an understanding of how the game is played and still wants to play again next season, and  then we will have been successful!

Here are some of the pics I snapped and two videos of Nico's first t-ball game.

First Venture out to Washington DC

Our first weekend in MD/DC area we decided to head into the city for a quick touristy visit.  We drove to the Metra train station and took the train in, where we arrived right in the MALL area.  It was pretty amazing being able to emerge from the train station, looking to the left being able to see the Capital and to the right, seeing the Washington Monument!

Here are a couple of pics of Ed and the kids on the Metra....you can tell the kids were thrilled! Ha!

Amazing sight to see....

We took a stroll through the Smithsonian National Museum of History and I have a feeling we will be going back very soon, as well as visiting the other Smithsonian Museums in DC.  The museum was a great experience and Nico had a great time seeing the dinosaurs and animals.

I also had to take advantage of the beautiful Cherry Blossoms being in bloom!  I was not able to get pictures this year of the kids with the Texas Bluebonnets, which is a tradition for just about all true Texans.  So this year I thought I would start with capturing my beautiful babies with these gorgeous trees DC is famous for during this time of year.

The city of Washington DC is so exciting with so much history to see and take in.  It is such a privilege for us to be able to  live here and get to share these experiences with our children.  This family will be seen frequently in DC over the next few years!

T-Ball

Somehow we moved here just in the nick of time for me to get Nico signed up to play t-ball this spring!  He is just aching to be around other kids, so this is a great start!  He has had two practices so far and the first game was canceled last week due to rain the night before. Nico has a lot of practicing to do, but I am proud of him to getting out there and trying. It is a good thing he has a daddy who loves baseball and will be able to help him out. Here are a couple of pictures I took at his first practice.

Pictures during our transition

Here are a few pictures I took once we arrived in Maryland but before we moved into the house.

Here is my handsome hubby heading out for his first day on the job as the Services Career Field Manager!  I am so proud of him and what he does for so many people.

The kids and I were glad to find that there are Chick-Fil-As here in Maryland!

This is a super playgroud that Nico and Ed are playing on near the new house.

Here is Natalee waiting in the car for me while Nico played on the playground with Ed....it was to cold for Natalee and I!

I can't believe I live near this!!!!  The water is gorgeous and I am 5 min from this beach and another where we can play and have fun!!!  This summer is going to be so fun!

Moving In

One week ago yesterday we moved into our first house here on the east coast!  It was an exciting day, but more so...it was exhausting and frustrating.  One of the perks with the military moving your family is that they contract a moving company to come in and not only move your stuff but also pack it all up and unpack it....while that sounds like a dream come true, I can certainly tell you that it was in fact, not that.  With having over 12,000 lbs of household goods to unload and unpack, you would think that the movers would have arrived quite early in the morning; however they rolled in around 10:00 am.  They moved all the items into the house at a decent rate...Ed and I had to make some quick decisions about where things were to go since were were downsizing for the 2nd time within the last 6 months. A lot of things, including quite a few that shouldn't have, ended up in the basement and the garage.  It was a relief and very comforting to see our things start to fill the house throughout the day, and I knew we would soon feel like we were "home."

Here is our townhouse!  We are going to get a great workout with all these stairs!

Here is the moving truck!  And there was a smaller truck behind this big one.

Nico was very excited to start seeing his things being brought up the stairs.  He ran around the house, saying, "Our stuff; it is normal again!"

The frustrating part of the day was at the end of the day when the movers said they were done "unpacking."  I went upstairs and found this horrible mess....apparently their definition of "unpacking" and mine are not quite the same.  Each bed, including Natalee's crib was filled with every item that the particular bedroom had in it.  We were able to get Natalee's and Nico's beds cleared off enough for them to sleep  in their own beds that first night, while Ed slept on the couch and I attempted to sleep on his arm chair...I ended up in bed with Nico hours later. I was so aggravated by the mess we were left with that the next day I was able to speak to the owner of the moving company.  He sent a couple more guys out to me to put some more things together and help me organize the giant mess that sat in front of me.

Pile of shoes on the closet floor

Linen closet stuffed full without a care in the world.

Nico's bed with a giant pile of clothes and toys on it...you are unable to see the empty toy box that sits next to the bed!

Natalee's crib completely full of every clothing item, shoe and decor she had in her room.  Her chest of drawers was stuffed with sheets and blankets which belonged in the incorrectly and overstuffed linen closet.

Master bedroom bed.....took hours to undo this mess.
