First Steps

Nico reached a new milestone today. While out of town visiting some family, Nico decided to show off a little and start walking! Yes, you read this right, he took his first steps! It was just a few months ago that he began crawling, and now he is taking his first steps on becoming a big boy. The great part about this is that Nico is proud of himself for mastering this skill! Take a look at the video and pictures below.

One Year Old Pictures

Nico is one year old! Maybe the more I keep saying it, the easier it will be to believe. Here are some of his cute one year old pictures. I had a hard time narrowing it down, so I included quite a few. This is also just pictures from Nico's first photo shoot, so stay tuned for the upcoming pictures from Chunky Monkey.

Party Animals!

Every first birthday deserves a first birthday party. Nico's first birthday party was a blast! Lots of family and friends came into town in order to celebrate this huge milestone with our precious birthday boy at his jungle themed party. There was lots of good food to eat, babies to watch playing, and wrapping paper flying through the air. Nico, with a little help, had a good time opening his presents, and already has a few favorities. Of course, he had to fight off the swarms of other babies from the new toys so he could play with them! And then there was cake time... Since Nico had already gained some experience in this, he knew to dig right in. It wasn't long until he was convered in green icing, and then it was straight to the bathtub for this birthday boy. To top things off, Daddy entertained the guests with a video filled with pictures of Nico's first year of life, Needless to say, there were plenty of tears from Mommy and a couple of the grandparents (I wont't mention any names...you know who you are) as we watched Baby Nico turn into Nico the little boy!

Overall, the day was absolutely wonderful! I appreciate everyone who helped me make it the day it was and who went out of their way to come share this experience with us; especially Pops who was able to leave our 94 year old Ninny in order to fly in and out the same day. Nico will never have a first birthday again, and I am so happy he will be able to look back at these pictures and the many, many more I took to see what a great time we had celebrating his miraculous life.

In addition, to Gigi staying for a whole week, Aunt Shae and Nanny stayed a couple of extra days to visi. This way Nico and Mason were able to spend some time testing out all the new toys together, especially the new red wagon.

It's Been One Year Already?!

It happened...Nico turned one year old today! I can hardly believe it. Our precious miracle from God was born exactly one year to the minute from the posting of this blog: Dec, 3rd at 7:53 pm. When I think back to the day of his birth, a canundrum mixture of feelings swirl around in my head, and my stomach does flips. It was hell and back that day. However, no matter how much stress and suffering we all endured, especially Nico, God prevailed. Our Lord and Savior brought Nico back to us in perfect condition; he is a miracle from God and I will never forget that or take his existence for granted.

This year has flown by so quickly and I have enjoyed every minute of it (almost)! I want to remember every event, every new discovery he has had, every laugh, giggle, smile and tear that has fallen down those chubby cheeks. I know that is not possible, so it my goal with this blog and all the millions of pictures I take to remind me of how precious these moments were of Nico growing up. I feel like this particular blog is the end of a chapter. Nico is offically a toddler now. I know this because first thing this morning, I received an email from one of the various baby/child informational wesbites which read: "Your Toddler." I was starlted when I first saw this. I stopped and and actually thoug, I don't have a toddler, don't they know I have a baby! But, Nico is a toddler and no longer a baby; however no matter how old he gets, he will forever be my baby!

Here are some pictures of my TODDLER on his 1st Birthday!
