Birthday Weekend in SeaWorld!!!!

For over a year Daddy and I have been promising Nico we would be celebrating his 4th birthday somewhere special.  For quite sometime we had hoped the "some where special" would be Disney World, but with a wedding to pay for and other possibilities coming up in the near future, we decided that forking over our entire life savings to hit up Disney World for a couple days might not be the best of ideas. So we asked our selves, "what's the best alternative?" Why, SeaWorld of course!  Daddy and I had took Nico when he had just turned 2 years old, but this time he knew the fun we were about to have and had more of understanding and appreciation for it!  This was also Natalee's first time to SeaWorld, and to top it off, Gigi was meeting us in San Antonio for the weekend.

This was such a special weekend for us and we started our SeaWorld birthday experience off with a Sesame Street Brunch!  Nico had no idea what was about to happen and when all of those Sesame Street friends came through the doors, his jaw dropped  and a huge smile came across his face!  Nico loved seeing each of the characters and told them all that it was his birthday, that he was 4 years old now and received big birthday hugs from them all!  Even Natalee was taken aback by Abbey, Cookie Monster, Zoey and Elmo (just to name a few)! After the breakfast we continued with the Sesame Street theme and saw a couple of shows, and let Nico doing some playing around in the Bay of Play area.  Later we watched the Shamu's Christmas show that was themed about miracles, which brought a few tears to mine and Gigi'e eyes...I mean we were sitting in between two of our very own miracles, one of which we were there to celebrate!

After leaving SeaWorld, we stopped for some dinner where a surprise birthday cake was brought out to Nico!  His eyes were huge as he got to blow out the candles. The next morning which was Nico's actual birthday, Nico was surprised to find the living area of the hotel room decorated in some Toy Story streamers and birthday party hats waiting to be used. Daddy made birthday chocolate chip pancakes for the little man which he added a few candles to the pancakes and we then got to sing Happy Birthday to the newly 4 year old. Finally, he then was able to open his presents before we all went our separate ways.

It was a day full of mixed emotions for me....my baby boy turned 4, but I had to leave him and his baby sister to travel down to my dad's to visit my grandma.  She had fallen a few days before our trip, fractured her hip and was in the hospital.  I felt led to go see her and help my dad was had the burden of taking care of her on his shoulders. So Nico and Natalee went east to Houston, Ed went north back to Fort Worth and I headed south the the RGV.  We did so much celebrating for Nico's birthday from the pirate birthday party to SeaWorld, so I tried my best not to feel too guilty, but as a mom, it was certainly hard to let that go.

It's been Four Years

Nico,

I can't believe you are 4 years old already! You are such a blessing to our lives. I am honored in every way to be your mother and I thank God for you every day! You are such an amazing little boy and watching you grow up is so fun and full of precious moments. You are a beautiful boy inside and out. You are so funny...you make your Daddy and I laugh all the time with the cute things you say. You love to sing and dance and are quite confident when it comes to your dance moves. We absolutely love watching you shake it! I don't think anyone I know has as much joy in them as you do. You are a naturally very happy and loving boy who always cares about others and is empathetic towards those you love. You are so friendly and I love watching you walk into your classroom where so many of your friends run up to greet you with open arms! You are loved by your teachers, your friends, your siblings, grandparents and of course Mommy and Daddy. You really love your family and always ask when you will get to see various family members again...and in the last year you have made some outstanding transitions with becoming a new big brother. You love your baby sister Natalee so much and are already protective of her. I love how you kiss her feet and how you enjoy making her laugh.

Thank you for being my son and Natalee's big brother and most off all, thank you for being you.

Love Forever and Always,

Your Mommy

It's been four years since my life was changed forever.

It's been four years since the scariest and happiest day of my life occurred.

It's been four years since I learned what a true miracle on Earth is and what God is really capable of doing.

It's been four years since a tiny baby weighing 8 lbs 1 oz and 21.5 in long was brought into this world after hours and hours.

It's been four years since God sent an angel from Heaven to bless our lives.

It's been four years since we went from something missing to a family.

It's been four years since this precious angel named Nico was born.....

......almost died............ and defied all odds......

to be here with us four years later.

It's been four years since Nicholas Edward, our little Nico, made me a mommy and made Ed a daddy again.  Four years since the world became a better place.

Thanksgiving Week Part 3

Thanksgiving Day!  This was a special Thanksgiving; not only did we spend it with our family in Arozona, but it was Natalee's first Thanksgiving.  I am more thankful this year than I have ever been in my life. God has blessed me over and over again and I am so incredibly thanksful for Him, His grace and His blessing upon our lives. Nico and Natalee are true miracles and gifts from God.

Before going straight into pictures, I have share how incredibly proud Ed and I were of Nico on Thanksgiving day.  Immediately before dishing out food and eating we of course gathered together to say the blessing.  While Ed was the one who was about to begin the prayer, Nico decided he wanted do it instead.  It was so sweet!  In front of almost 20 people, Nico said a thanksgiving prayer!

My little turkeys!

Nico was so excited about the Macy's Day Parade.  He loved watching the floats and wanted to watch the parade over again once it was over.
