Thanksgiving Week Part 3

Thanksgiving Day!  This was a special Thanksgiving; not only did we spend it with our family in Arozona, but it was Natalee's first Thanksgiving.  I am more thankful this year than I have ever been in my life. God has blessed me over and over again and I am so incredibly thanksful for Him, His grace and His blessing upon our lives. Nico and Natalee are true miracles and gifts from God.

Before going straight into pictures, I have share how incredibly proud Ed and I were of Nico on Thanksgiving day.  Immediately before dishing out food and eating we of course gathered together to say the blessing.  While Ed was the one who was about to begin the prayer, Nico decided he wanted do it instead.  It was so sweet!  In front of almost 20 people, Nico said a thanksgiving prayer!

My little turkeys!

Nico was so excited about the Macy's Day Parade.  He loved watching the floats and wanted to watch the parade over again once it was over.

Thanksgiving Week Part 2

On Thanksgiving Eve everyone came over to Teresa's house, where we were settled in for the week, where we had a great dinner put together by my sweetie, and then started a fire out back in the fire pit.  The kids were able to roast marshmellows and we sat around the fire joking, telling stories, laughing and catching up.

Thanksgiving Week Part 1

This year for Thanksgiving our family went to Phoenix, Arizona.  This is where a lot of Ed's family lives, including his mom (Nana), and his sisters and their families.  We spent 6 days out in the desert nad had a great time catching up with everyone.

I am going to post pictures in three separate blog posts to divide everything up some....and I am only posting the pictures that involve our little ones since the blog is really about them.

These pictures are of us all at Ashleigh and Brandon's house (Ashleigh is Ed's niece, and Brandon is her husband).  Ashleigh and Brandon were wonderful hosts and cooked us a delicious dinner and then we celebrated Nana's 70th birthday.  Nico was able to play with two of his cousins, Connor and Thomas who are 3 and 8 years old and Natalee was able to show off her crawling skills!

Happy birthday Nana!

10 Months

10 months and counting!  Natalee is only 2 months shy of turning 1 year old!  Holy cow!  She is amazing in every way and brings our family so much joy!

Let's see....

Sleeping:  Natalee, I have to say that I think you can do better. In fact, I know you can do better.  I have seen better.  Mama is tired and you need to start sleeping through the night again like you did for a short period of time.

Right now, little you wake about on average twice a night.  While you have your pacifiers and your bunny, you do not know how to self sooth yourself back to sleep. Even when I go in there to give you the pacifier, you wants nothing to do with it....but instead only want the bottle.  Nothing, and I mean nothing, else will put you back to sleep.  Natalee, you had this mastered before 6 months of age, but after catching a cold with a cough again and your reflux then acting up from the cough, our nights have not been the same since.  I think, my sweet little angel girl, that your late night parties need to come to and end so we can all be happier mommies and babies.

Eating:  Natalee, I think you may be just like your brother in a sense that you are super picky!  You seem to be done with baby food, which is good. You want nothing fed to you on a spoon.  If I give you anything on a spoon you spit it/spray it right back out at me!  So we have turned mostly to table food...but you are still pretty picky.  You had a swallow study done a week ago and they said babies can refuse food up to 15 times, so you are going to keep getting all things you are refusing to eat! You do, however like penne pasta, bread, crackers (especially graham crackers), watermelon, sweet potatoes, white beans, and sometimes peas.

Getting around:  Natalee, You started crawling 10 days ago and since then you have taken off!  You are a speedy crawler and moving all over the place.  You are following me from room to room and following Nico around as well. You love seeing what your big brother is up to and prefer to be in his room over your own and playing with his toys over yours.

Demeanor: Natalee, You have to be the happiest baby in the world!  Everyone is always commenting on how happy you always are.  The majority of the time, you are smiling and babbling about something.  You love watching what others are doing and try to copy (mostly Nico) their actions.

Language: Natalee, You are quite the talker already!  You love to babble and do it all day long.  You are saying ma-ma, da-da, bu, and ba-ba, but I do not think there is meaning or any association with the babble yet. However, you do try to copy the sounds I say to you at times and get excited (by clapping) when you are able to copy me.

This is you on November 23. 2012...we are at your Aunt Teresa's house, so that is why I have there are exposed outlets.  Don't worry Nat-nat, I do keep your safety in mind.

Pirate Party-Nico's 4th Birthday Party

Yesterday I threw Nico a pirate birthday party to celebrate him turning the big 4 years!  Although his birthday is not for a couple of weeks, this was the only available weekend we had to have a party.  God granted us with beautiful weather in the middle of November, which was wonderful since I had a pavillion reserved at Trinity Park. Pops and Big Sis came into town and helped me facilitate/take care of Natalee throughout the party.

Once all the kiddos arrived we walked just abotu 200 yards to the huge playground to let the kids play a bit. Then I had pirate games planned for the kids to play, to include walking the plank. This was where the kids had to carry a plastic golf ball on a spoon while racing across the "plank" to put into a bucket at the end of the plank.  The second game was a ring toss game....they had to toss the rings onto the crocodile's snout.  And finally the third game which was the biggest hit was a cannon ball fight.  Daddy made Nico 2 large pirate boats out of our recent moving boxes and with the help from Daddy,Gigi and Pops, I had over 100 cannon balls made.  The kids were divided up into two teams and they threw the cannon balls at each other from the ships!  They loved this game....what 3 or 4 year old does not like throwing things at another person without getting in trouble?!  I think they could have played this game for hours, but Big Sis came with the pizza, so it was time to eat!

The kids ate pizza and then it was time for our fancy Jake and the Never Land Pirate cake! By this time the wind had picked up some with the sun starting to set so the babies who were there (and there were 6 babies at the party!) were beginning to get chilly. Since the wind had decided to show itself, we had a bit of a hard time lighting the candle for Nico to blow out.  A dear friend of mine had to hold the candle while someone lit it and three other people held their hands around the candle to block the wind. Then Nico blew the candle out as soon as it was lit...at least he got to blow it out because he looked at me with a funny face when I brought the cake over without a candle lit up for him to blow out.

After cake, it was time for presents.  I can say that I think I may have needed some additional herding of the children during this part.  Each child knew which present they had brought and they each wanted to open or at least help Nico open their present.  There were a few presents in which Nico did not even get to open because a couple of his friend "helped" him out and did it for him.

Overall, Nico had a great time...he loved having his friends come to celebrate with him!  What a blessing of day to celebrate one of the greatest blessings in my life! I love you Nico with all my heart!

The party is all set up and we are waiting for our guests.
